Sponsorship has enabled Concept Cartoons™ to be used to communicate science to the public through football club programmes. A millennium award was granted by the Royal Society and British Association for the Advancement of Science in 1999.

Science at Stockport County was launched in August 1999.
Science pages feature Concept Cartoons™ in the magazine for each home match Supporters are faced with a problem in one magazine. The magazine for the next home match then gives the science background to the problem.

Stockport County Football Club has a family friendly policy. It encourages families to attend matches. First team players support local schools and community groups. Its matchday magazine has won awards for features on health-related fitness, drug awareness and other community issues.
